Author's Note: I would like to thank Xen for the idea of A.J. And the
chapter's names are after the lyrics in "Misty's Song", if anyone noticed. I
do NOT own "Misty's Song."

Disclaimer: I don't own "misty's song" or anybody in the original pokémon
series, and A.J., Sabrina, blah blah. I own only Skye, Charmie, and you know
the rest.

Part One

Chapted One- Out here in the Quiet of the Night

"Beneath the stars and moon," Misty exclaimed. "It's so beautiful."
"Yes," Brock agreed. "Indeed it is."
Ash reluctantly agreed and grumbled. Everyone but him wanted Skye to
stay. Pikachu had to give him a thunder bolt to make him say yes. Charmie was
very glad to have Pikachu around, and Pikachu found a liking for Charmie.
Skye looked at Ash. She knew exactly what he was thinking. Oh well, she
sighed to herself. You can't win them all.
"I can't wait to start the adventure!" she said instead. "All day we've
been talking about this and I really can't wait to start."
"I bet you can't," Ash glowered at her.
"Ash," Misty warned.
"No," he protested. "I won't be nice. I never wanted you here. I never
liked you and I never will. You only bring us bad luck."
"Oh please," Skye groaned. "Not this again. Besides. It's so quiet and
we're isolated here in the middle of nowhere. What could possibly happen?"
"Well for one thing, Team Rocket could show up any minute."
"Yeah," Skye snorted. "Like they can really ruin our night."
Ash looked at her. "I didn't say anything."
"Then who did?" Misty asked.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves." a voice said. "Prepare for trouble."
The smoke cleared and there stood Jessie, James, and Meowth on their Team
Rocket transportation device, thingamajig. James had a rose. "And make that
double."
(Jessie) "To protect the world from devastation."

(James) "To unit all peoples within our nation."

(Jessie) "To denounce the evils of truth and love."

(James) "To extend our reach to the stars above."

(Jessie) "Jessie..."

(James) "James.."

(Jessie) "Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light."

(James) "Surrender now or prepare to fight."

(Meowth) "MMMEEEOOOWTH! That's right!"

James tossed his rose aside and stepped down from their transportation
device thingamajig. "Now hand over that Pikachu."
"And that Charmander," Meowth added.
"Never!" Ash and Skye shouted at the same time.
Jessie shook her head. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. Then prepare to fight!" She did
her ballerina twirl thing. "Arbok, go!"
"Go Weezing!"
"Bulbasaur, I choose you!"
"I want...Amethyst!"
"Misty chooses Staryu!"
"Go Zubat!"
"Pika pika pikachu!"
"Char charmander!"
Jessie stared at them. "What did they say?"
Ash and Skye laughed. "They said to kick some Team Rocket butt."
"Jessie, they insulted us!" James complained.
"James, be quiet. Arbok, poison sting!"

"Weezing, sludge attack!"

"Bulbasaur, vine whip!"

"Amethyst, fang attack!"

"Staryu, water gun!'

"Zubat, super sonic!"

Pikachu and Charmie slapped each other high five and joined the fight.
Pikachu giving a thunder bolt and Charmie gave a fire spin. Meowth gave his
payday attack.
"Jessie, we don't have enough pokémon!" James whined.
"James, be quiet. Arbok, bind!"

"Weezing, smoke screen!"

"Bulbasaur, razor leaf!"

"Amethyst, quick attack!"

"Staryu, bubble beam!"

"Zubat, (something else that a Zubat does which I don't know)!"

Pikachu and Charmie revved up and blasted Team Rocket away with a
combination of a Thunder Shock and an ember attack. "Meowth!" Meowth shouted.
"It looks like Team Rocket is.." "Blasting off again!" Jessie finished as
they shot up in the sky.

Ash gave Skye a smug grin.
"Oh be quiet, Ash," Skye moaned. "Let's all go to sleep."

Chapter Two- We both Know We've got Something on our Minds

The next day, the group headed towards the Viridian forest. Skye was
avoiding Ash at all costs because Team Rocket had proven her wrong. When she
was little, she would never hear the end of it from her father if she was
wrong. She had tried not speaking at all, but she received a whipping. As she
remembered all this, Skye shuddered.
Ash wasn't talking to her either. All the things he said to her about not
liking her were not true. Actually, he enjoyed her company very much. It was
the competition that was hard on him. Every battle they would come across
would probably be won by Skye. If they do find the pokémon that holds all the
answers, it would probably be found be Skye. She would steal his spotlight
that he worked so hard, and be nothing for Skye.
Skye didn't like to steal the spotlight from people. It wasn't her fault.
But it also wasn't her fault that she was super smart and her pokémon were
super powerful. Ash was a good kid, really. He deserved the attention. But
when she was little, she was taught to grab the spotlight and to be the best.
Of everything.
Misty, Brock, Pikachu, and Charmie noticed the silence of the usually
bickering duo. They looked at each other and decided not to say or do
anything about this. It usually didn't work, anyway.
"Well, well, well. Look who's here, Sandshrew!" a voice with a heavy
accent exclaimed.
Ash's eyes widened. "A.J.?" he asked. He whirled around. Sure enough,
there stood A.J. with his spiky green hair and his precious Sandshrew by his
side.
Skye's eyes flashed. "Boy," she whispered to Misty. "He sure is cute."
Misty giggled. "Only you would think so," Misty whispered back. "I don't
think he looks good one bit."
"Oh, I know," Skye laughed softly. "You're type is Ash. Er, I mean, cash.
People that don't care about cash."
Misty frowned but didn't say a word.
"Hi, A.J.!" Skye greeted him. She swung her hand at his and shook it up
and down. A.J. was surprised at the incredibly firm grip.
"I don't recall seeing you last time," AJ said with a confused look on
his face.
"That's 'cuz I wasn't there last time, whatever that is," Skye explained.
"I'm Skye Dreame at your service. And that is my best pokémon, Charmie!"
"Char char!"
AJ laughed. "Doesn't look that good to me! Looks kinda weak."
Skye's eyes flashed again, this time in anger, not in admiration. "You
don't go around insulting my Charmie like that!" she growled. "I bet my
Charmie can beat your Sandshrew anyday."
"Big words for such a little lady!" AJ laughed. But that was the wrong
thing to say. Skye towered over him at 5'8". "I'm undefeated, AND all I need
is an Earth Badge."
"Ha! You think you're so great," Skye said. "I have the same badges as
you and.."
"Well, I have ALL the badges!" Ash interrupted. "And I'm the greatest
pokémon master of all time."
"Shut up!" AJ and Skye said at the same time. Then, they turned to each
other again. "Prepare to be defeated!" Skye challenged.
This made AJ laugh even harder. "I believe that's what the little boy
over there said," he laughed, indicating Ash. "And I won!"
"Yeah, well, the boy over there has a big mouth," Skye scoffed.
"Okay, then. You asked for it. Go Sandshrew!"
"I want...Charmie!"

Battle One- AJ vs Skye

"Char!"
"(a noise that a Sandshrew makes)"

"Okay Charmie, ember attack!" Skye ordered.
AJ pulled out a whip. He cracked it on the floor. "Sandshrew...."
Skye screamed at the sight of the whip and dropped down to her knees,
sobbing. "No, I didn't mean to! I didn't mean to! Please don't!"
AJ was confused along with Brock and Ash.
"I guess the battle is over?" AJ asked.

Skye ran over to Sandshrew and hugged it tight. "I know how you feel,"
she whispered. Then she composed herself and tackled AJ. "How dare you treat
your pokémon that way?" she accused. "Don't you know that it toughens them
and makes them hate you?"
"My Sandshrew doesn't hate me! We love each other (er, in that master and
pokémon relationship way)" AJ defended himself.
Skye kicked the whip out of his hands and did a flip and caught it. Then,
she went over to Charmie. "Burn this horrible thing!" she commanded and
Charmie did just that. He had witnessed many of the whippings that Skye
received.
AJ was horrified. "How dare you?"
"I very much dare to!" Skye spat back.
Misty pulled AJ over and explained, "I don't think it's a very good idea
to use a whip around Skye. She, er, was disciplined that way as a child. Her
father was a little crazy and treated her like a pokémon, not a human."
"Oh," AJ said.

AJ joined the group on their journey.

This made Ash even more outraged. Now he had two supposedly perfect
trainers with him on his journey. He sighed. He rather have Skye, he guessed.
At least Pikachu and Charmie were friendly. Pikachu seemed scared of the
Sandshrew while Charmie spat fire on it everytime they encountered each other.
Skye didn't know what to say. AJ, as Sabrina had said, was her type, but
she didn't know it. She was scared of AJ. AJ had plenty more whips and that
frightened her. She wanted to beat him in a battle, but she knew that
everytime he brought out a whip, she would lose the desire to fight and the
old memories would come back in an instant.

wanted Skye in this story! Here's another poll: If AJ and Skye were to have a
battle (and she wasn't scared of his whip, of course) Who do you think would
win and why?
You don't have to take it, but if you want to, send it to WRmistyRW@aol.com!
